Death Powder
(1986)
Directed by Shigeru Izumiya
A repellant "underground" film, Death Powder ressembles the cursed video
in the first Ring. It has strangely intercut images of burning heads,
seething liquids, torture, drugs and hallucinations. The plot is minimal
involving a kidnapped hi-tech android in a rubber outfit, but the film
can only be appreciated as channel-surfing in a freakish universe. Weighing in
at under an hour, its shortness adds to its impact. If it were longer, it would
lose its potential admirers in the chaos.
